About KIAS
KIAS is a non-political non-profit and non-sectarian all inclusive forum for intellectual and cultural engagement. It aims at being recognized as a premier organization for activities that will promote Indo- US literature established September 5 2023 . This newly formed society is preparing to create a benchmark in excellence by synergizing India-US literary communicative and cultural initiatives in the days ahead seeking sincere support and patronization from the academic luminaries of academic institutions from all over the Globe.




Indian-American Society strives to provide accurate comprehensive and current information on literature, media and culture studies in India and America. It is a non-political non-profit and non-sectarian all inclusive forum for intellectual and cultural engagement. It aims at being recognized as a premier organization for activities that will promote Indo- US literature established in 2023 . This newly formed society is aiming to create a benchmark in excellence by synergizing India-US literary communicative and cultural initiatives in the days ahead seeking sincere support and patronization from the academic luminaries of Indian academic institutions. . It began its journey when its founder President Dr. Ratan Bhattacharjee as an Affiliate Faculty in Virginia Commonwealth University worked hard for procuring support from various forums of the VCU most remarkably from its Global Education Services , Robertson School of Media and Culture , and individually from a host of young and verteran faculty members and other top level officials including Dean Humanities and Director Humanities Research Centre even on the personal level. The Society is getting connected to the Indian Diaspora in America and the USIS centers all over India for direct assistance and help. Efforts are endless and constant. The Society will include the members nominated/ elected from the regional centers which ae being formed in various Indian Universities which will coordinate the activities in future with its main office in Kolkata. . The Indo-American Society Kolkata will have a board of members representing all the regional centers which send their own representatives for the formation of the General Committee and the Executive Committee. The society will thus provide dedicated service of fostering India – US relationship in the fields of literature , media and culture studies. The regional centers will aim at activities that include lectures talks, symposia, forums discussions, conventions, conferences, seminars, Civilisation Courses , Refresher and Orientation Programs, AI Skill courses , Media and Communication courses. The society will time to time mobilize opinion regarding education plan or pedagogical techniques for India and America. It can organize various types of events, interactive meetings for the students and for IAS Members, inviting top officials from top universities , public and eminent figures of Indian and American societies. Annual General meetings will be held bi annually for electing new members for the Society. Membership drive will be the priority for the regional centers and an amount collected will be in a certain proportion as decided by the General Body in their bi annual meetings / urgently convened meetings and approved of by the Executive Committee will be sent for publishing journals, monographs , newsletters and arranging travel grants for the executive members. The formation of new regional centers all over India and even in a broader perspective in the South Asian countries reaching out to Europe ,Africa and Australia in the near future.

Resolutions adopted
In the first meeting of the KIAS (Kolkata Indian American Society), held in Kolakta the Board of Presidents in the presence of the founder President defined the society's guidelines, as well as, the Projects to be launched in future . The first priority is given to opening Regional Centers and include the Head of the Regional Centers in the manin body of the KIAS.
"The present act solemnly announces and establishes the foundation of "The Kolkata Indo American Society" for the promotion of Indo American Studies as an independent policy research entity that conducts multidisciplinary studies of complex and emerging problems related to American and Indian Culture Studies" were the words of the founding text.
Maintaining the spirit of internationalization, but adapting to the new phase, Kolkata Indo American Society opts to make the official language more flexible by making English an option for publication of the Newsletter . Keeping the tradition to be started in 2024, it creates the "Indo American Society Award (Bi Annual)” for the most relevant contribution to the development of research and projects in the area of Indo American Studies.
The bold goal of our Society is our motivation, which unites us, in continuous efforts for exploration of the Culture of both India and America.
With this viewpoint we will select and nominate Speakers and Training Guides from our Regional Centers and Main Body of KIAS especially from the Board of Presidents of KIAS
Advantages for Joining KIAS
1.Members of KIAS including the Presidents of the Board of KIAS both at Regional and Main Center will be invited all over India and Europe and also in the US whenever any such situation arises.
2.The specially invited speakers will be provided TA and DA and free hospitality by the institutions which invite them for their events .
3. For the training programs the speakers will also be given certificates from KIAS.
4. Academicians should have as their minimum qualification a position not below Assistant Professor or Ph.D. holders ( Or NET Qualified) in a private or government or autonomous institution.
5.The specialization in any Humanities subject or Media and Communication Studies will be preferred.
6.International collaboration in lecture series and scholarship information
7. Short Visit to USA Canada and Europe or Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will be arranged in near future when it is feasible.
8. KIAS will organize National and International Conferences in their regional centers annually where all members of KIAS can join and submit their papers / present Papers which will be published in peer reviewed journal of KIAS.
9. In course of time KIAS will try to provide 50% of the expenses for the conveyance and Hospitality.

11.Membership drive will be taken by all the regional centers and the main body of the KIAS. Regional Centers will send 50% of the collected money for membership or any amount collected for other events in the name of KIAS to the Main Center of KIAS to continue the activities and projects that will be launched from time to time and from that amount TA and DA subsidy can be provided to the regional centers later for organizing training programs and conferences or workshops and lecture series on India –America studies.
